Recent Verdicts and Appellate Wins

On August 31, 2022, we won a sizeable jury verdict for our client in a case involving claims against its property insurer for COVID-related losses. The case, involving whether a large medical institution had suffered “direct physical loss or damage” due to COVID, was the first of its kind to go to jury trial in the nation.

On April 5, 2018, we won a jury verdict in a wrongful death lawsuit, which led to a take-nothing judgment in favor of our client, one of the world’s largest chemical manufacturers. The case was tried on a single threshold issue after the firm successfully severed the more complicated liability question. This strategy not only saved the client from a potentially large judgment, it also saved the client hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees by narrowing the issue for discovery and trial. We then held this verdict on appeal.
