Robin feels right at home in front of a jury. Representative Matters
COMMERCIAL LITIGATION
- Secured multi-million-dollar jury verdict for client seeking damages under commercial property insurance policy for COVID-related damages. Presented opening and closing statements and examined four witnesses.
- Second chaired bench trial involving breach of fiduciary duty claims brought by company against former executive; secured verdict in client’s favor. Presented opening statement and conducted direct examination of plaintiff’s corporate representative. Argued and obtained summary judgment on employee’s counterclaims.
- Served on trial team defending a national hospital system in three-week trial of a partnership dispute involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, conspiracy, and other claims. Jury awarded a small fraction of the damages plaintiffs were claiming.
- Obtained early dismissal of breach of contract and tortious interference claims and award of attorney’s fees and sanctions against plaintiff in suit involving major research institution.
- Obtained sizable pre-suit settlement for plaintiff in discrimination action against major consulting firm.
LEGAL MALPRACTICE
- Defended state-wide law firm against malpractice claim through the appellate process, including argument at the Texas Supreme Court.
- Successfully argued appeal resulting in early dismissal of plaintiff’s malpractice claims against a large law firm.
- Obtained early dismissal and award of attorney’s fees and sanctions against plaintiff in malpractice suit brought against national law firm.
- Second-chaired jury trial involving breach of fiduciary duty claims against top national law firm. Presented two fact witnesses and cross-examined plaintiff’s damages expert. The case settled on the eve of closing argument on very favorable terms.
- Defended national law firm in connection with multi-billion dollar lawsuit brought by Receiver of the Stanford entities.
- Defended national law firm in connection with negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, and conspiracy claims brought by former professional athlete.
- Represented top national law firm in wrongful foreclosure action in federal court. Developed and successfully briefed a threshold issue, resulting in client’s early dismissal from the case.
ENERGY LITIGATION
- Second chaired jury trial involving suit by landowner against oil company for environmental contamination. Presented opening statement and examined two witnesses at trial.
- Handled a highly technical breach-of-contract action for an engineering firm against an equipment manufacturer. Managed pretrial discovery and deposed defendant’s technical expert. Briefed and responded to cross-motions for summary judgment in federal court, prompting a favorable settlement.
PRO BONO
- Regularly represents unaccompanied minors in immigration removal proceedings in partnership with Kids in Need of Defense (“KIND”).
